Tank Part Description and Function
Liquid Withdrawal Valve A tube that dips into the liquid propane.

Used to empty the tank before service or transportation or to refill a portable propane tank.

Vapor Return Valve A safety device that controls the pressure of the tank.

If the tank becomes too pressurized, the return valve will open to release the gas or direct the propane back into another storage container.

Float Gauge A device that floats atop the liquid propane and measures the approximate percentage filling the tank.
Fixed Level Liquid Gauge A tube that helps propane delivery personnel know when the tank has reached its maximum fill.
Service Valve The part of the tank that allows propane to flow into a home’s pipes as fuel.

You can shut off this valve in the event of a leak or emergency.

Safety Relief Valve A spring-like device that keeps the tank from building up excess pressure.

Opens up under high pressure to prevent the tank from bursting.

Fill Valve A hose fitting that delivery personnel use to fill up the propane tank.

Fill valves have gaskets and caps to prevent debris from entering the tank and gas escaping.

Before jumping into size options for your propane tank, note that tanks can only hold 80% of their capacity. For example, a 2,000-gallon tank holds 1,600 gallons when full.

Propane liquid expands as the temperature increases, so this design feature allows for swelling and prevents the tank from bursting. You’ll encounter the 80% rule no matter what size tank you select.

1000 Gallon Underground Propane Tank (NEW)

$2,400.00
(4 Reviews)
Product Description Best 1000 Gallon Propane Tank Price Underground propane tanks help retain your curb appeal. Once buried, only the lid is seen protruding from the ground. The lid keeps the regulator, gauges, and filling port from exposure to the elements. We offer different propane tank sizes to meet a wide range of residential and commercial needs. When filled, the volume of propane is approximately 80% of the total tank capacity to allow for expansion. These large propane tanks are typically used for whole home systems, home heating, generators, pool heat, commercial cooking, drying cleaning, and crop drying. The tank is about 6' 3/16"  tall and 15' 11" long. It is appropriate for most buildings ranging from 4500 sq. ft. and up. Metered systems for small communities and shared commercial buildings commonly install 1000 gallon propane tanks as their central propane storage. This underground propane tank requires you to dig a hole in the yard on your property. Excavating the yard will cause some damage and leave a large patch of dirt. However, you can plant grass and sod, and you'll eventually be able to plant and landscape this space. In fact, the yard can end up looking even better than before and help raise the value of your property! Above ground propane tanks can be an eyesore and can require more creative landscaping to hide. Underground propane tanks are also surrounded by earth so they're not as affected by weather conditions and freezing temperatures as above ground tanks. Features:
  • Conforms to the latest edition of ASME Rules for Construction of Pressure Vessels, Section VIII, Division 1. Complies with NFPA 58.
  • Rated at 250 psig
  • Heavy duty steel is painted with a mastic application to ensure long life and remain anti-corrosive
  • Vessels shipped with durableliquid
  • All vessels are shipped vacuum pre-purged to enable simplified first fill of the vessel.
  • Green

(4 Reviews)
Product Description 57 Gallon Vertical Propane Tank with Gauge Propane continues to be a popular choice among consumers when it comes to heating for residential, agricultural, and commercial industries. If you're looking for a 46 gal propane tank size, this is the right choice for you. 46 gallons refers to the actual number of gallons of propane the tank can hold, and 57 gallons refers to the total water capacity of the tank. Typically, 100 gallon propane tanks are used for home heating, hot water, dryers, generators, and pool heat. 100 gallon propane tanks are also used for commercial applications such as heating, cooking, and dry cleaning. Propane is easy to store and refill. Includes an internal gauge within tank lid for simple and convenient refilling. Recommended refilling is between 20-30% capacity. A twin stage regulator is necessary for tank usage at a safe, working pressure. Propane is odorless, but an odorant is added to it so that it will give off a smell if it's leaking. If you have questions about the operation of your appliance or gas systems, contact your local gas dealer. Practice safety at all times. Never allow your gas container to be filled above the maximum safe level. Specifications:
